On October 14th 2012, Felix Baumgartner made history by becoming the first man to break the sound barrier during freefall. With him was the El Primero Stratos Flyback. Despite the incredible statistics clocked up during the feat - the acceleration, the temperature differences and the variations in atmospheric pressure - the watch continued running as smoothly as ever at the end of the jump which lasted 9,18 minutes and set a triple record for the first free-falling human to break the sound barrier, the highest freefall jump (38'969,4m), as well as the freefall speed record at 1'357.6 km/h, meaning Mach 1.25.
