The Navitimer 1959 Edition in 18k red gold celebrates Breitling?s most iconic model & most coveted early Navitimer design in a limited edition of 159 pieces. The Navitimer 1959 Edition in 18k red gold features a black dial with white contrasting chronograph counters. Recreating one of the signature elements of the original Navitimer Ref. 806 in 1959, the dial, protected by a highly-domed Plexiglas, is highlighted with a Breitling inscription in capital letters and an unsigned winged logo. In fact, the only concessions to modernity are the water resistance, which has been increased to 3 bar (30 meters), and a Super-LumiNova? coating for which a very special attention has been paid to the color to ensure that it aligns with the aging of the luminescent material on earlier watches. Its hand-finished application gives the dial an additional touch of vintage allure and all its character. The Navitimer 1959 Edition is powered by the in-house Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a hand-wound COSC-certified caliber based on the renowned Breitling Caliber 01. The Navitimer 1959 Edition in 18k red gold is available on a brown leather strap with an 18k red gold pin buckle and is limited to 159 pieces.

Léon Breitling focused on chronographs, which were increasingly in demand at the time for industrial, military, and scientific applications as well as for athletic organizations. In 1889, Léon Breitling was granted a patent for a simplified model, which distinguished itself from its competitors through its sleek design, uncomplicated manufacturing process, and straightforward maintenance. Léon Breitling passed away in 1914 and his son Gaston took over the family business. He had inherited his father’s pioneering spirit, innovative flair, and an insatiable passion for chronographs, which he demonstrated in 1915 with the launch of one of the world’s first wrist chronographs with a separate push-piece above the watch crown.
