Time for the great and small moments of life

The new PanoMaticCalendar from Glashütte Original

Life holds a great number of milestones in store – significant events that make us who we are. The latest creation from German watchmaker Glashütte Original is dedicated to these special moments: the great and small highlights, extraordinary and everyday encounters. The PanoMaticCalendar presents modern mechanics, implemented in an elegant and original manner. In platinum or red gold, the new model offers itself as a loyal and eminently stylish companion with a precise feeling for the right moment.

Unforgettable time
Our perception of time depends to a great degree on how, and with whom, we spend it. In certain fortunate moments, time seems to stand still, afternoons fly by and a perfectly ordinary weekday can turn into a personal holiday. Each moment is full of possibilities, every encounter and any one day can assume a special meaning. After all, time is not simply the unshakable pacemaker of our life, it calls up exceptionally powerful emotions. Glashütte Original brings these emotions to the wrist with an elegant timepiece that becomes a reliable confidant for a lifetime: the PanoMaticCalendar.

Premiere of a modern complication
The launch of the new watch is a milestone in itself, as Glashütte Original celebrates the premiere of this grand complication. For the first time, the brand’s watchmakers have taken on the annual calendar. In this elegant timekeeper the functions are given pride of place – not only the hours, minutes and seconds, but the day and month as well, taking months of different lengths into account. Only once a year, on March 1st, is it necessary to adjust the date, in order to account for the short month of February. A masterpiece in mechanical watchmaking, equally distinguished by its functionality and suitability for everyday use.

Two versions: red gold and platinum
In keeping with the style of Glashütte Original‘s Pano line, the watch appears perfectly contemporary, clean and absolutely unmistakable thanks to the dial’s asymmetric design. The 42 mm model is available in two versions: in warm red gold with finely shimmering, silver opaline dial and brown Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap, or as a limited edition in elegant platinum with skeletonized galvanic black dial and matching strap, also in soft Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather. Both models feature the characteristic asymmetrical arrangement of the time display and small seconds. Complementing the moon phase display at 2 o’clock is an innovative month display beneath a sapphire crystal window between 6 and 3 o’clock. The calendar indications are completed by Glashütte Original’s signature Panorama Date at 4 o’clock, framed for the first time in the red gold version by a fine gold border.

A completely new movement
With the PanoMaticCalendar, Glashütte Original also presents a new manufactory movement developed in-house, which celebrates its premiere in two versions at once: as Calibre 92-09 in the unlimited red gold version, and as Calibre 92-10 in the partially skeletonized platinum model. Both movements are rhodium plated, the limited edition is particularly striking; galvanization coats it in an elegant shade of black rhodium. Whatever its appearance, the new automatic movement demonstrates what the modern mechanics at its best can offer. A silicon balance spring unaffected by changes in temperature or magnetic fields and a frequency of 28,800 half-oscillations per hour deliver exceptional rate precision, paired with a remarkable running time of 100 hours, great resistance and easy to use functions. The new movement has been completely redesigned to ensure maximum user friendliness and durability. The retrograde month display combines contemporary design with complex mechanics. It can be easily set, just like the date, via the crown. In the heart of the watch the month wheel rests on a ball bearing, which ensures reduced friction and thus, in the long run, improved rate results and less wear and tear. As usual with Glashütte Original, each movement is built using innovative techniques, then finished and regulated by hand. The sapphire crystal case back allows the owner to admire the elaborate decoration. There’s no question about it: this milestone is a genuine original from the tradition-rich centre of the German art of watchmaking.
