Zenith: An Invitation To Star Gazing In Blue

AN INVITATION TO STAR GAZING IN BLUE: THE CHRONOMASTER ORIGINAL TRIPLE CALENDAR LAPIS LAZULI

The name ZENITH was born from a star-dusted sky. Gazing at the celestial canopy, Georges Favre-Jacot, the brand’s founder, envisioned the zenith—the highest point a star can reach in the sky—as the perfect embodiment of his aspiration for watchmaking excellence. A reflection of limitless possibilities, blue has become ZENITH’s signature colour. Following the introduction at Watches and Wonders 2025 of the G.F.J. and the 160th anniversary blue ceramic trilogy, it is now time for another ZENITH classic to be dressed in blue. The CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar is now graced with a captivating lapis lazuli dial—at once compelling, functional, and rich with evocation.

Horology is often regarded as a child of astronomy—born from humanity’s enduring quest to measure time through the movements of celestial bodies. Echoing these cosmic cycles, the CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar displays the hours, date, day of the week, month, and moon phases in perfect harmony. In its latest iteration, the model features a dial crafted from lapis lazuli, evoking a starry night sky with its deep blue hue scattered with shimmering, gold-colored pyrite inclusions. Naturally occurring, these mineral flecks ensure that no two dials—and therefore no two watches—are ever exactly alike.

Rendered in a refined silver tone, the three counters and the 1/10th of a second chapter ring offer striking contrast and exceptional legibility. The complete calendar indications are seamlessly integrated and intuitively arranged. The day of the week and the month appear above the chronograph counters, at 11 o’clock and 2 o’clock respectively. The date is discreetly positioned at 4:30, while the moon phase is elegantly embedded within the chronograph minute counter at 6 o’clock.

A true ZENITH classic, the complete calendar chronograph was reintroduced in 2024 as the CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar. Its compact 38mm round case draws inspiration from the emblematic 1969 A386, featuring pump-style pushers, tapered lugs, and a raised box-shaped sapphire crystal.
At its heart beats the automatic El Primero 3610 calibre, a modern evolution of ZENITH’s iconic high-frequency chronograph, now enhanced with a true 1/10th of a second function. The chronograph seconds hand completes a full rotation of the dial in just 10 seconds, precisely indicating 1/10th of a second on the silver-toned chapter ring. With a 60-hour power reserve and a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time-setting, this movement is a perfect blend of heritage and innovation.

The sapphire display case back reveals the intricate architecture of the movement, including a striking blue column wheel and an openworked rotor bearing the ZENITH five-pointed star.
The CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar Lapis Lazuli comes fitted with a blue calfskin leather strap secured by a stainless-steel folding clasp and is also delivered with a matching steel bracelet with folding clasp—offering versatility and effortless style.
The CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar Lapis Lazuli is available at ZENITH boutiques, on the brand’s official website, and through authorized retailers worldwide.
