Manufacture of Freedom

Ulysse Nardin is the Pioneering Manufacture inspired by the sea and delivering innovative timepieces to free spirits.

In 1846, Ulysse founds his name company in Le Locle. The time is one of bold ocean exploration and international trade. Ulysse Nardin sets out to develop his own marine chronometers for navigation, along with complex pocket watches. With an untamable inventiveness, he surely and steadily comes up with new ideas every day and designing of ultra-high precision timepieces. As the son of one of the most talented and visionary watchmakers in history, Paul-David not only ensures the Maison continue to grow, he also carries on its spirit of innovation, ensuring the renown of its name.

With its spirit of determination and audacity, Ulysse Nardin has written some of the finest chapters in the history of Haute Horlogerie by creating every opportunity brought by existence, by exploring and pushing further and further the boundaries of the watchmakers’ imaginations and by keeping in mind that exploring is to stop at nothing until to reach a heightened sense of comprehension.

Ulysse Nardin has embarked on an odyssey, to push back the limits of time, to reinvent the rules of what can and cannot be done. Each new achievement confirms the manufacture as a bold adventurer in the world of Haute Horlogerie but while each technological achievement remains a source of pride and wonder, the Maison knows that experience is the magnitude of our world.

5 collections

Proud member of the global luxury group Kering since November 2014, the brand based in Le Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland is continuing its quest for horological perfection centers around five collections: The Marine which celebrates the Maison’s century-long history dedicated to nautical chronometers, the Diver which accompanies all the Sea adventurers, the Classico which pays a respectful homage to the most revered watchmaking traditions and know-how, the Executive which reveals all its audacity in term of design and technicity and the Freak which is literally a laboratory on the wrist.

From its original longing for exploration to the creation of their first marine chronometer, to the now omnipresent nautical inspirations of their contemporary creations, the House has always maintained a fearless relationship with the world at large and its oceans.

Today, as the preservation of our oceans and endangered species becomes the great next challenge of our Time, the House chooses to dive into the abyss and support the monitoring of sharks’ complex behaviors. The shark’s nature is that of an underwater creature so unique, it knows no respite, as does the balance wheel of a watch.

Introducing the X-Factor in Watchmaking

In 2019, Ulysse Nardin introduces the X-factor in watchmaking. More than an attitude, eXploring has become Ulysse Nardin’s motto. X like an adventure, X like our deepest desires, X for the unknown, X for what’s forbidden, bold and exciting. X for eXploration, eXcessive, eXperience, eXtreme and compleX. All in the name of the kind of quality and know-how a true watchmaker won’t ever deny. Let’s be free to astonish.
