Protecting the fascinating underwater world

Through systematic observation and scientific analysis of this majestic sea creature, Manta Trust wants to raise awareness of the fragility of the underwater ecosystem. Carl F. Bucherer is supporting Manta Trust by becoming the patron of the two manta rays “ScubaTec” and “TravelTec,” which were tagged as part of a research project. By attaching satellite transmitters to the manta rays, the project intends to shed new insights into the life of these gentle giants. The carefully collected information will allow for the introduction of far-reaching measures of protection for these. Once the data has been gathered and analyzed, the journeys of “ScubaTec” and “TravelTec” across the Pacific’s expanses will be traced on Manta Trust’s home page.

Manta rays are one of the many sea creatures whose survival is being threatened by overfishing. The Manta Trust – a UK registered charity – is committed to protecting and ensuring the survival of these mysterious and charismatic animals in more than 20 different countries. Carl F. Bucherer has supported this charity for many years in order to help with the conservation of manta rays. In the summer of 2017, the Swiss watch manufacturer is launching a limited-edition timepiece dedicated to the charity for the first time. Part of the sales proceeds of these 188 watches will go to help finance an entirely new kind of research expedition.
