Glashütte Original pays tribute to another analogue era—the 70s—with three watches that take the decade’s design codes to new territory. All three feature dials with a fine hexagrid structure that creates vibrant light reflections and visual depth. The finish on the obelisk-shaped hour and minute hands and the sleek second hand lends them a particularly sharp and 3D appearance. The dial is enhanced by a date display at 3 o’clock. The stainless steel rounded square case measures 39mm, and it is presented on either a metal bracelet or a rubber strap with leather lining.
The only limited edition in the new line is the Vinyl Record model, which is inspired by the matte-black finish of an LP. Its hour and minute hands, together with the indexes, are made from solid white gold. A glimpse through the sapphire caseback shows the black-rhodium plated rotor, to tie in with the dial’s hue. 70s Vinyl Record is a limited edition of 500 pieces.
Tweed Amp takes its design cues from the textured brown fabric coverings of the iconic amps favored by blues musicians over the decades. Its hour and minute hands as well as indexes are made from solid red gold that strikes a contrast against the cool silver tone of the steel case.
Finally, Stereo Panel takes its inspiration from the hi-fi systems that represented the pinnacle of acoustics and aesthetics in the 1970. As with the two other models, the hour and minute hands and the indexes of the watch are made from solid gold and coated with Super-LumiNova®. The black coating preserves the monochrome aesthetic of its design inspiration.
The watches are powered by the calibre 36 automatic movement, which boasts a power reserve of 100 hours and resistance to magnetic fields as well as temperature fluctuations.
