Glashütte Original Reaches for the Skies with the Serenade Luna in Skyline Blue

The Serenade Luna is an elegant, automatic timepiece with a moonphase complication at the six o’clock position. The latest version, in Skyline Blue, complements the celestial indication perfectly with a dial treatment reminiscent of the sky, and diamonds as bright as a heavenly body. The back of the timepiece’s ultra-thin mother-of-pearl dial is coated with several layers of dark lacquer. As a result, when seen from the front, the color of the dial shifts from a light, silvery blue to a dark, dramatic smoky blue—an effect reminiscent of the glass facades of an urban skyline that reflect the sky and its shifting clouds.

Adding dazzle to the dial are 48 brilliant-cut white diamonds around the bezel, hand-set diamond indexes, small silver stars around the moon phase, and the stainless steel case and bracelet. The entire moon disc is finished in mother-of pearl, just like the dial. To add great depth to the night sky, four circles of blue lacquer are applied to the reverse. When the moon rotates into its aperture, it dazzles against the luminous darkness.

Inside the 32.5mm timepiece is an elaborately finished automatic movement featuring perfectly bevelled edges, sunburst finishes, perlage, stripes and shell decorative techniques. A sapphire caseback allows this internal beauty to be appreciated. The Serenade Luna is available on a stainless-steel bracelet or Louisiana alligator leather strap.
