Ulysse Nardin Celebrates 25 Years of the Freak with the New [Super] Freak Masterpiece

At the heart of the [Super] Freak beats an entirely new in-house caliber, the UN-252, which took four years to develop and consists of 511 components. The automatic movement brings together the collection’s most emblematic mechanisms and patented inventions, while introducing an unprecedented level of complexity. At all times, 97% of the caliber is in motion since only 13 of the 511 components remain fixed. It encompasses the world’s first automatic double tourbillon, a seconds display, the world’s smallest gimbal system and the world’s smallest vertical differential.

The twin tourbillons each complete a full rotation every 60 seconds, while the flying carousel turns once per hour. Time is set via the bezel, and the movement is wound through the back of the 44mm white-gold case.

The [Super] Freak is an artisanal creation with more than 70% of its components finished entirely by hand. Each watch in the 50-piece limited edition is assembled by a single Grandes Complications watchmaker over the course of 60 hours. The result may represent the most complicated time-only watch ever created.
