The Air Command collection takes off for new horizons
Blancpain has held a special place in its watch range for feminine timepieces. Since the early 1930s, the watch Manufacture has been dedicated to developing new movements and innovations tailored to women. A significant milestone was achieved in 1998 when Blancpain introduced the first flyback chronograph designed exclusively for women, a feature now integrated into several Blancpain models. The Air Command collection takes a sportier and more adventurous approach, paying homage to a rare 1950s Blancpain chronograph.
Inspired by the vintage look of the 1950s timepiece, the Air Command collection boasts a timeless aesthetic. The layout of the counters and tachymeter scale on the dial, luminescent hands and hour-markers, piston-type chronograph pushers, and glassbox-type sapphire crystal all echo the original design.
The Air Command embraces the technology of the 21st century while maintaining a vintage charm. It offers two distinct timing modes: a flyback chronograph and a countdown bezel. The blue dial and ceramic bezel insert add a touch of modernity and elegance. The dial features sunburst and snailed finishes, complemented by alternating satin-brushed and polished details on the case.
Underneath its 36.2 mm diameter, the Air Command houses the F188B self-winding movement. With a vertical clutch for stutter-free chronograph activation and smooth stop/start functions, it also incorporates a silicon balance-spring and a column-wheel system for a precise feel when measuring time and resetting the hands to zero.
The Air Command is available in grade 23 titanium, an exceptional quality seldom used in watchmaking, or in red gold. It comes with a blue calf leather strap accented by white stitching, adding the final touch of sophistication. Blancpain’s Air Command collection offers an exquisite blend of vintage aesthetics and modern technology, making it a true standout in the world of feminine watches.
